Ms. Jeri Bridwell began playing the piano at age four and the violin at age nine. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Indiana University, and a Master's Degree in Violin Performance from the University of Georgia. She has also done post-graduate violin study at New York University. She has taken Suzuki Certification classes through Book 2, and teaches both violin and piano using the Suzuki curriculum and philosophy, as well as more traditional methods. Jeri has played with numerous orchestras throughout the Southeast including the South Carolina Symphony, where she held the chair of Principal Second Violinist. She has started many Suzuki violin programs, and also wrote and was awarded grants to start and develop Strings programs in public schools. She taught in Hilton Head, SC for several years, and while there incorporated Suzuki violin into their Strings curriculum starting in the Pre-kindergarten, and also helped with the start of the Hilton Head Youth Orchestra, where many of her students were some of the first members of the orchestra. After moving to Sarasota, FL she started modified Suzuki violin and piano programs for gifted and talented students in grades one and two in schools there. While in Sarasota, her students were featured on the TV program "Excellence in Education". In Sarasota, she started experimenting with alternative styles of playing, including fiddle, celtic and jazz style electric violin playing, which opened her heart to loving music of all different types. She has recently moved to Phoenix from El Paso, TX, where she taught violin and piano classes. Ms. Bridwell enjoys making collages and sparkly jewelry, playing with her three cats, and playing music with her husband in their jazz duo, "Beauty and the Beast".

Ms. Jeri brings a wide variety of creative ideas to her teaching, including a commitment to Montessori philosophy as well as the Suzuki philosophy and curriculum. She advocates a positive, loving and praise oriented environment, and encourages each student to be expressive while maintaining a standard of technical excellence. She believes very much in communicating with parents about their child, and finding each child's unique creative process. She has been strongly influenced by Howard Gardner's theories of multiple intelligences, and tries to approach each student using a combination of aural, visual, tactile and kinesthetic learning. She believes that the creative process is a wonderful way to explore knowing oneself and others better, and to give a deeper meaning to life.

I started taking Piano Lessons from the Institute of Music when I was 10 years old. I took Piano Lessons (including Piano Recitals) for many years and have played piano now for over 40 years! Absolutely still lovin' it!!

I built a full-time Piano Lessons with Piano Recitals freelance business up to 42 students (50 contracts with 8 students doubling) during a 15-year period. I taught my students to play the piano using the Alfred's piano books, 16 progressive levels for kids and adults from beginner to advanced.

I also orchestrated Piano Recitals twice a year giving my students an opportunity to build their confidence while showcasing their talents.

I have performed over many years at Recitals, in Church, at Weddings, Funerals, and an Open House.

The Alfred books for Piano center on Note-reading, Finger-numbering and Rhythms theory. The activities and songs are fun and rewarding for all ages 5 years and up...if you can memorize, you can do this! Come prepared to learn and be amazed at what you do at the piano!!
